Famous Wisconsin Musicians: Steve Miller Band

Classic rock/blues guitarist Steve Miller hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he was born in October 1943. Miller was taught some of his first guitar chords by neighbor Les Paul.

According to the book Famous Wisconsin Musicians by Susan Masino, Steve formed his first band, the Marksmen, at the age of twelve. The band also included a young Boz Scaggs, a classmate of Steve's. Steve and Boz later attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison together and played together in a band called The Ardells.
