Default Paul Cebar and the Milwaukeeans, interesting sounds, Milwaukee & the World

Occasionally Handsome King Of Whatchamacallit Makes Tommorow Sound Now - from http://www.paulcebar.com/home.html

If you want the flashy intro, try www.PaulCebar.com

Reviews - at http://www.paulcebar.com/reviews/index.html - starts with a great article by Dave Hoektra of the Chicago Sun Times. There are a couple of articles from Hoektra here ~ excellent reads about Cebar, his music, and Milwaukee.

Here are a couple of excerpts:
"Any given day begins at Cebar's apartment in the East Town neighborhood, several blocks northeast of downtown. His nine-room, fourth floor apartment is packed with 14,000 albums, 2,000 45s, hundreds of music books and several guitars."
[2004]"Paul Cebar and the Milwaukeeans formed in the summer of 1986 as an offshoot of the R&B Cadets. Now leading his fourth version of the Milwaukeeans, Cebar has been unyielding in his devotion to Afro-Cuban rhythms and 1940s jump music while incorporating contemporary influences such as hip hop and (reggae) toasting."
Found some great music at http://www.wmse.org/schedule.php - DJ'd by Paul Cebar (look for his name, Wednesday shows), often using his prodigious record collection. I found the shows I listened in on to have a real immediacy, as though they were live while listening...and the music was fantastic!

His schedule needs updating - last update was August 14th, and there were perhaps two-and-a-half dozen gigs in the queue into November. I'd like to see it updated because after checking out all of his site and the WMSE show, I want to sit in on a night of his music.

Regards,
Keith
