I can offer a little background. Regarding the acetate found in San Francisco, I had a friend in Novato, CA (just north of SF) who was very close to Doug. He told be that following Soup's second LP, "The Album Soup", he and Doug drove cross country from
WI to LA where Doug enrolled at GIT and rented an apartment which was the former apartment of the Hillside Strangler. Doug died in this apartment and my friend ended up with the master and a number of other recordings. My Novato friend told me that when he split up with a girlfriend, she made off with the master. This is one plausible story for the acetate being found in SF. Thanks.
